5 Ways to Celebrate Mom

| by Paige Mareth, Woodhouse Director of Communications, under Inspiration

Mom does so much for us, it’s like she has super powers. If you’re a mom, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Planning the week’s meals, the never-ending laundry and oh my goodness why did we commit to all of these activities? Kids, husbands, grandkids and more are a lot to take care of, and they do it so well! We can’t pay her back, but we can show her we appreciate her! A tangible gift is a great place to start, but sometimes Mom would rather just spend time with us. Here are a few ways we can do just that.

— Dinner Date

Most of us have spent a great deal of meals depending on Mom. There’s just something about home cooking. This Mother’s Day give Mom a break. Plan to complete a meal without her help. Husbands, your wives will love this. Complete the grocery shopping and make a meal you know she loves. Have it ready for her when she arrives. And don’t forget the most important part: her favorite dessert!

— Movie Night

Is your mom a social butterfly or a home body? Depending on your answer to this question, plan a movie night in-house or at the theater. If you’re staying in, consider the classics. What’s her all-time favorite movie? Have her go-to candy or snack on hand and pop some popcorn. If going out, consider the genres she enjoys. Has she mentioned wanting to see anything? It can be tempting to buy tickets for that movie you have had on your radar, but this is her night! Be sure and stop by the concessions, your treat!

— Spa Day

Mom carries a lot of stress. She’s responsible for so many things – and people! Give her a day at The Woodhouse or schedule services for the two of you to enjoy together. For a little mother-daughter bonding, manicures and pedicures will do the trick. If you’re shopping for your wife, consider a duet massage or one of our Mother’s Day packages, handpicked just for Mom. If she’s a seasoned Woodhouse guest, what is her favorite service? The gift of relaxation is a tough one to beat.

— Mother’s Day Off

Oh, husbands, you knew you weren’t getting off easy! Give your wife the week off and if you have kids, put them to work. We’ve covered cooking, but what about the rest? Get the laundry done (and folded) for her. The bathroom unfortunately doesn’t clean itself, so break out the supplies. Make all of the beds and have the kids clean their rooms. Add some fresh flowers to your newly cleaned kitchen counter. You can’t put a price on how good a clean house she didn’t have to clean will make her feel.

— Say Thank You

It’s easy to get in the mindset that the things Mom does are just part of the routine. While that’s true, it’s also a lot of work. Say thank you and do so often. Oh, and it wouldn’t hurt to occasionally throw in a helping hand.
